  • BLS Returned to the WGBH High School Quiz Show State Finals as 2019 Champs in Inaugural Season, and Reclaimed Title for 2020.

2019
  • Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Included Honorable Mentions, Silver, Golds, Regional Gold Key, and National Gold Medal.
  • BLS Placed Among Top Teams at Elite Regional Science Tournament.
  • The Big Band Earned Gold at the Norwood Jazz Classic and Cape Cod District Festivals (with a Perfect Score).
  • BLS Quiz Bowl Team Competed in a Boston-Based Team at the 4th International Olympiad (Computer Science, Physics) of Metropolise held in Moscow, Earning Two Bronze Medals in Physics.
  • Wolfpack Athletes Honored with the Dual County League Sportsmanship Cup for the 2018-19 School Year.

2018
  • BLS Named Best School in Massachusetts for the 3rd year in a Row, #33 in the Nation by U.S. News & World Report.
  • JCL Achieves Success at Yale Certamen Tournament - 1st place finishes for advanced and novice teams, also earned 1st place in all levels at the MA state competition.
  • Two BLS Students Represented Boston at INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair.
  • Big Band Earned Gold at MAJE State Finals and Selected as a Finalist in the 11th Annual Charles Mingus Competition; MICCA Festival: the Concert String Orchestra Earned Gold, and Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Choir all earned Silver. Show Choir Earned Silver at Eastern Show Choir Festival.
  • BLS 4x800 Relay Team Became DCL and State Champion, and Were Nationally Ranked (#21). 
  • BLS Crew Team Made History at the MA Public Schools Championships, Overall Team Trophy;  Girls' 1st Varsity 8 Took Silver at the NEIRA Rowing Championships - only the 2nd public school to medal in NEIRA's 70+ year history; Girls' 1st Varsity 8 and the Boys' Varsity Lightweight 4 Qualified for U.S. Rowing Youth National Championships.
  • Zoë Shay-Tannas '20 Qualified for the 2019 USA Fencing National Championships (Division II, Senior Women’s Saber) by Winning 1st place at the NEUSFA Division II/III Qualifier.
  • WGBH High School Quiz Show Named State Champs and Interstate Champs
  • BLS Junior Achievement Took 1st place in the Business Competition with the Environmentally-conscious Product, Filtair.
  • Gabriella Izzo '19 Named National Junior Ladies Champion in January at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. 


    2017

  • BLS earned Gold as it was named Best School in Massachusetts #42 in the Nation by U.S. News & World Report.
  • Five BLS students won the Youth CITIES’ L3 Innovation Challenge.
  • For the first time in BLS history, Girls' Cross Country team qualifies for All States.
  • Students earned impressive results on National Language Exams (Spanish, German, French): 33 gold medals; 81 silver; 60 bronze; 197 honorable mentions.
  • Two BLS students conducted 1st ever Human Library: Real People, Real Conversations at BLS as part of a Worldwide Movement for Social Change.
  • Concert Strings, Concert Choir, Big Band and Wind Ensemble all received Gold Medals at the State level, a 1st for BLS. A record high 37 students accepted to Senior District, 13 Students accepted to All State, Six Students accepted to All East and Roger Cawdette accepted into All-National Honor Orchestra.
  • BLS Junior Classical League - the largest chapter in the world - took 1st place for the Intermediate Certamen competition at 2017 Nationals and also earned two 1st place awards and two MVP honors at the Yale National Certamen Invitational.
