The Argo is Boston Latin School's award-winning student newspaper. The Argo staff strives, in accordance with the highest standards of journalism, to inform and inspire readers, to provide a forum for constructive debate, and to foster understanding among all members of the Boston Latin School community. Catapulta is Boston Latin School’s nationally-recognized science magazine that was awarded 1st place in the 2018 Annual American Scholastic Press Association magazine competition! Published annually, the magazine highlights current scientific research and popular science. Written and edited by a team of dedicated students from all six grade levels, Catapulta emphasizes scientific literacy in the BLS community. The Register is Boston Latin School's literary magazine, established in 1881 by George Santayana, BLS 1882, distinguished philosopher, essayist, and novelist. Published semi-annually, it celebrates the literary and artistic achievements of Boston Latin's students. Edited and formatted by a team of dedicated students from all six grade levels, The Register is emblematic of the high standards of work which are so valued at the nation's oldest school. Veracium is Boston Latin School's current event magazine, established in 2020 by BLS V.O.T.E. It covers the most important news and provides unbiased and sourced review of events. Published semi-annually in print as well as online, it celebrates the literary achievements of Boston Latin's students in becoming better global citizens. The publication was highly regarded by former Head of School Ms. Skerritt '95, and former Assistant Head of School Mr. Mulhern '98. Our club advisor Ms. Arnold, said that "it stretches beyond our walls to educate peers on critical issues nationally and globally, pays attention to sourcing, makes powerful statements in the pieces, Veracium is an amazing body of truly exceptional work that is circulated in the BLS community." From cookbooks to emotional thrillers, all types of books can be found here! The Student Handbook contains information about topics including but not limited to: graduation requirements, homework and dress code policies, key dates in our school year calendar, as well as important information regarding bullying and other serious infractions. It is useful for students to review it each year along with their parent or caregiver so that each family is fully informed. |
