Community Service Overview All students in grades 8-12 are eligible to count community service hours they complete towards their graduation requirement. Below, you will find the updated policy and some suggestions on how to find service opportunities.
- Students in grades 9-12 should create and use an Innerview account. Innerview can be used to find service opportunities and submit proof of completed volunteer service. Click the Innervew tab on the left for more information on creating an Innerview account. -Each student must complete a minimum of 100 hours of verified community service. These hours may be completed in or out of school. Hours are verified through submission on Innerview. - Student receive credit for hours volunteering. Additional hours cannot be offered without permissoin of Mr. Kennelly. - Innerview posts must include a detailed description of the volunteer activity. Posts for 50+ hours should inclued an accountiing of the hours served. - All donations to approved clubs or non-profits receive one hour of community service. - Out of school service must be completed at non-profit organizations. Internships or volunteering at for profits will not be accepted as BLS community service. -This is a minimum requirement. Students are strongly encouraged to continue their community service once they have completed the 100 hour minimum requirement. Students with exemplary community service (250+ hours) will be recognized by the Boston Latin School community by wearing a green cord at graduation. National Community Service Awards April 15 is the deadline to apply for the United Nations National Community Service Award.
