IT'S NOT TOO LATE!
Those who have not yet registered for the San Francisco (March 30), San Diego (April 1) or Los Angeles (April 2) alumni events will be granted clemency if they click on the above event and register immediately. Follow the links above for more details about these sumptuous menus!

NEVER TOO YOUNG TO NETWORK
The Young Alumni Council and Holland & Knight will host the first Young Alumni Networking Night on Thursday, April 6. This event — chaired by host committee Nicole DeBenedictis '97, Mary O'Neill '96 and Connie Tom '91 — is a prime opportunity to network with fellow alumni and learn more about career paths, job openings and how to maximize those BLS connections! Alumni panelists will share their career stories and offer tips for job seekers. Click here for more information.

REMEMBERING A CLASSMATE
Friends and classmates of Imette St. Guillen '99 are planning an event to celebrate her life and to contribute to the scholarship fund established in her name by her family. Those interested in taking part in this event should contact event committee chair Morgan Stockmayer '97 or a member of the Class of 1999 committee. To contribute to the fund, please e-mail Director of Individual giving Kate DeForest or phone her at (617) 450-0004, ext. 26.

IN MEMORIAM
We note with sadness the passing of two veteran Boston Latin masters: Samuel Resnick of Newton died Friday, February 3 at the age of 92. Mr. Resnick was a Boston Public Schools teacher for 46 years, including his 22 years as head of the English Department at BLS. Charles Avery, a history teacher at Alma Mater for more than 30 years, passed away February 22. He had been ill with Parkinson's for a number of years, but continued to live a full life until the end.

DIALOGUE & DISCOURSE SPEAKERS SERIES
The next edition of Dialogue & Discourse: The Boston Latin School Alumni Speakers Series is set for Tuesday, June 6, with a timely topic, "Working for Peace in Boston." Panelists will be familiar to those who read this spring's Bulletin, as they include the Rev. William Dickerson '80 of the Greater Love Tabernacle Church, Boston youth worker Cindy Diggs '83 and Raffi Yessayan '86, chief of the anti-gang unit at the Suffolk County District Attorney's office. More information will be posted in the coming weeks.

A CAPITOL IDEA
BLSA hits the road again in late April as we head to our nation's capitol for the ever-popular Washington D.C. Alumni Reception. This year's festivities will take place at The Cosmos Club, 2121 Massachusetts Avenue, NW on Wednesday, April 26. Postcards are in the mail, but you can register online now by clicking here.

FORE ALMA MATER!
Hit the links for the second annual Wolfpack Classic Golf Tournament (insert link to calendar listing), set for Thursday, June 8, at the Ferncroft Country Club in Danvers, MA. Golfers will enjoy lunch, an 18-hole scramble, buffet dinner and auction, all to benefit Boston Latin School athletics. Last year's golfers raised more than $21,000. Sponsor and golfer spots are still available; donations are also welcome for the auction. For more information click here.

NEWS FROM THE SCHOOL
The Brighton-Allston Historical Society was host of a presentation by Marlene O'Hara '06 of her award-winning paper on the famous Knox Expedition that transported the Fort Ticonderoga cannon to Dorchester Heights in the winter of 1775-76, forcing the British army and navy to evacuate Boston on March 17, 1776. O'Hara also presented her paper to a conference on Revolutionary War history at Fort Ticonderoga this past fall.
The BLS Cheerleading Squad and Coach Ellen Moy Maneikis '78 wish to thank those who responded to their efforts to raise funds this year. Nearly $2,000 was raised, helping to defray the out-of-pocket expenses of each cheerleader. Cheers also to the squad in their 'three-peat' at the Boston Battle of the Cheerleaders Competition and for moving up a notch in the Dual County Competition, qualifying for "regionals," another first.
Honors student Caroline O'Loughlin '07 was named a Fall 2005 Boston Globe Cross Country All-Scholastic. Her top-three finishes included a second at the State Coaches Meet in Wrentham and second in Division 1 at the EMass championships. At states, O'Loughlin finished in seventh place. She has been on six consecutive Dual County League All-Star teams (including indoor and outdoor track) and finished second in the mile at the EMass outdoor track championships last season.
143 eighth grade Connections Program students, led by teacher Cate Arnold, competed in (and won!) an architectural competition that looked at the historical context of a cultural landmark, in this case the Boston Public Library, that was built during the American Renaissance in Boston. The finished projects were on display this winter at the Copley Square Library of the Boston Public Library.
Grady Ryther '06, Bobby Lee '06 and Danny Chan '06 took first place in the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Model Bridge Competition. The team of Doug Wang '06, Philip Chan '06 and Ben Li '06 tied for fourth place. Teams were asked to build bridges weighing one pound or less, that were contructed of project report covers, fishing line, and double sided tape.
Winter sports are winding up another successful season: 27 Dual County League All Stars in all sports combined; Caroline O'Laughlin '07 qualified for the nationals in the 1000 meters in track; boys basketball, boys hockey, and girls hockey all qualified for the State Tournament, with girls hockey winning the DCL championship.

A TEST OF TRIVIA
Lovers of classical art and those with fond memories of our own Alma Mater alike were quick to send the answer to February's trivia question, though none were quite as quick as sharp legal eagle Duncan O'Brien '78, who was first to contact us with the correct answer of sculptor Richard Saltonstall Greenough 1829 to the query, which 19th century artist's marble works are displayed in the Boston Athenaeum, Brooklyn Museum, Memorial Hall at Harvard and the Capitol in Washington, D.C.

Now, with thanks to Alumni Relations Director Lynn Flaherty, we pose the following challenge.

March's question:
Two answers, two parts: Name the first Latin School alumnus to become Head Master AND the most recent. Include terms served for extra credit!

Head master followers of a historical nature seeking a free T-shirt should send responses — including your name and class year — magna cum celeritate via e-mail to BLSA.

REUNION WEEKEND REGISTRATION OPENS
Class committees have been hard at work preparing for their fellow alumni to return to Avenue Louis Pasteur as the 20th through 55th reunions are celebrated May 11-14, 2006. (Watch for the 5th, 10th and 15th celebrations over Thanksgiving Weekend.) Brochures are in the mail, but you can find a full listing of events and activities here. Online registration will be available starting Wednesday March, 29. We look forward to welcoming you back to Alma Mater in May!

CELEBRATIONS FOR THE CLASS OF 1946
The Class of 1946 will celebrate its 60th Reunion at Latin School on April 27 and 28. Highlights include a cocktail reception and a visit to the school. Registration materials have been mailed; click here for more information or contact the Association at (617) 450-0004, if you have not yet received yours.

GOLDEN ALUMNI (POST-60th) CELEBRATIONS
Our Post-60th Reunion tradition continues as those classes 1945 and previous gather for a special luncheon on Saturday, May 13 at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Waltham, Massachusetts. Hosted by Head Master Kelley and BLSA President David S. Weiner '59, special tributes will be made for those celebrating 65th and 70th reunions. Registration materials will be in the mail shortly; click here to learn the latest.
