Every year the Boston Latin School Association raises unrestricted support which funds new hardware and software at BLS, so the school can remain competitive technologically; provides for student athlete uniforms and transportation; and underwrites the cost for student mentoring and tutoring programs. Ultimately, the goal is to endow these areas so unrestricted dollars raised annually can be applied to new initiatives not yet explored by the administration. However, these needs at the school are not one-time goals to be met and that is why this year BLSA raised the bar for leadership gifts from an annual minimum of $500 to $1,000 for membership in the Head Masters’ Circle giving societies.
My wife, Lorraine, and I have put forward the funds again this year for an unrestricted endowment which will help fund these yearly needs. Now I challenge BLS alumni to follow our lead and increase their unrestricted leadership annual support. We will match every unrestricted, current use dollar alumni give at leadership levels and put it towards our endowment fund. If you gave under $1,000 last year and you rise to that level this year, I will match each dollar you increased to join the Head Masters’ Circle. If you gave $1,000 or more last year, I will match each dollar you increase by this year.
It’s not about giving at the Head Masters’ Circle level so much as it is about
what your gift can do for the students at BLS. Latin School alumni were taught
what it means to be a leader - now is the time for all of us to act on that training.
Please take my and Lorraine’s challenge and step up your giving this year. The
good it will do at Latin will last well beyond this year. To make a secure unrestricted

Thank you in advance for your consideration and support.
